FEATURES

Sailing area

Discover the most beautiful spots for kitesurfing in the Caribbean. On a premium catamaran you will sail from Grenada to the island world of the Grenadines. Locally, the best kite spots are close together. Whether it’s Union Island, the Tobago Cays or Salt Whistle Bay – thanks to your floating hostel, you can reach even remote places that you almost have to yourself for kiting. Turquoise waters, coral reefs and palm-fringed beaches provide the exotic setting to really let loose in “Robinson Crusoe style”.

Skipper

With our operator Lime Ways and their young, top trained Lime skippers you are in the best hands and exceptional vacation experiences are waiting for you. Our exclusive sailing trips are mostly on fixed routes, which we have selected for you together with Lime Ways years of experience. Thanks to the networks of local partners – such as chefs, vintners or guides – you will experience intense moments of pleasure and take home only the most beautiful impressions of your dream destination.

Your yacht

For kitesurfing in the Caribbean, sail on a 2016 Bali 4.0. The twelve meter long catamaran offers eight participants (plus kite instructor and skipper) plenty of storage space for their equipment. On both hulls you can easily get into the water via bathing platforms. Two lounge areas on the roof and on the bow, as well as a spacious cockpit, offer plenty of room to relax and dine. Thanks to the freezer, microwave, solar panels and water purifier, you don’t have to sacrifice comfort even in remote spots.

Kitespots

Kitesurfing in the Caribbean starts at a shallow water spot in Sandy Island. There, beginners can safely get to grips with the new sport and advanced skiers can brush up on their skills. Then you will get to know spots with different characteristics: Wave-rich bays, turquoise shimmering lagoons or areas in front of deserted dream beaches. On days with little wind, interesting shore excursions are on the program.

Kite instructor

Our VDWS-licensed kite instructors from Avid Kiteboarding will introduce you to the area, give rescue on offshore spots and hold theory and practical lessons for beginners. Advanced students are supported from posture to the first jumps. Our experienced instructors have years of kitesurfing and worldwide training experience in different areas to ensure you maximum safety and learning success.

Sailing area

Constant trade winds between 15 and 25 knots form the basis for kiting in the Caribbean. Offshore coral reefs protect the kite spots and anchorages of the Grenadines from high seas – even those who are sailing for the first time will feel comfortable there. From January to May, the dry season prevails in the Grenadines – but now and then there is a tropical downpour. The water temperature is about 28 °.

ROUTE

Cast off for the Caribbean – Kiteboarding

DAY 1-2: FROM GRENADA TO CARRIACOU

In the afternoon, meet all participants at the Port Louis Marina in Grenada. After embarkation, we will have an early dinner to leave early the next day for Carriacou. After a seven-hour crossing, you will drop anchor at Hilsborogh. The small, authentic place attracts with its small bars directly on the beach.

KITING BETWEEN DREAM BEACHES

DAY 3: SANDY ISLAND

Your first kite session starts in front of the uninhabited Sandy Island with its beautiful beach. You will kite between Sandy Island and Paradise Beach – a long, gorgeous sandy beach on Carriacou. In the afternoon, sail about an hour to Clifton on Union Island for dinner. End the evening with a sundowner in the bar of the Anchorage Yacht Club.

ENDLESS SHORES FOR YOUR KITE FUN

DAY 4-7: FRIGATE ISLAND

In the morning you will leave for Frigate Island. The shallow bay is an ideal Caribbean kite spot: the wind blows over a low sandbar, and there are hardly any waves behind it. Plus plenty of room to practice and few other kiters. Perfect for beginners and advanced skiers who want to brush up on their skills. Back on Union Island, the charming main town of Clifton is a short distance away for dinner followed by drinks.

QUIETER OR ROUGHER – THE CHOICE IS YOURS

DAY 8-9: SALT WHISTLE BAY

Salt Whistle Bay on Mayreau – this is how you imagine the perfect Caribbean kite spot: Two crescent-shaped bays are only a few steps apart at the narrowest point. While one side is very calm, the onshore wind produces quite a few waves. For the evening, a BBQ on the beach with lobster, fish and local vegetables awaits you. Later we go to a small atmospheric beach bar for a rumpunch.

CARIBBEAN KITING IN SPECTACULAR SCENERY

DAY 10-12: TOBAGO CAYS

The mini-islands of the Tobago Cays with their beautiful sandy beaches are surrounded by the horseshoe-shaped coral reef “Horse Shoe Reef”, which keeps the swell away. Perfect, then, to kite a few laps in the shallow water. If you like, you can take a break for a day and go on a trip to the spectacular underwater world. If you wish, we can organize a dive for you through a local partner. In the evening there will be a BBQ on the beach.

CHEERS TO THE PROS

DAY 13: CLIFTON

The kite beach of Clifton on Union Island is the most famous kite spot in the Grenadines. Be inspired by the best kiters and be amazed by their breakneck tricks. Another highlight is “Happy Island” in the middle of the kite spot – accessible only by kite or dinghy, enjoy a refreshment there during the day or a sundowner in the evening with reggae music.

LAST SANDBANK BEFORE THE RETURN JOURNEY

DAY 14-15: FROM MOPION TO GRENADA

After a day stop at the mini-island of Mopion with its small sandbank, you will sail about six to seven hours back to Port Louis Marina on Grenada. There your Caribbean kite trip will end with a dinner. The next morning you will check out around 9 am and start your return journey.
